Since the 1970s, Catholic Community Services of Utah has been resettling refugees seeking safety and a new start in our community. With open hearts and outstretched hands, we have welcomed families escaping war, persecution, and unimaginable hardship—offering them not just resources, but a place to belong. Now, due to recent federal funding changes, we face a difficult reality: our Refugee Resettlement program is winding down.

While this chapter of our work is closing, our commitment to those we serve remains unwavering. Beginning in April 2025, our client caseload will gradually decrease until mid-2026.

During this transition, community support is critical in ensuring that refugee families continue receiving the assistance they need to reach self-sufficiency and settle into life in Utah. Refugees who have already arrived in Utah—families who have taken their first hopeful steps toward rebuilding their lives—still need our help.

CCS is calling on the community to stand in solidarity with our refugee neighbors in the midst of this transition. There are two powerful ways you can make a difference.

The impact of community support is best seen through the stories of those who have found support and stability through CCS. Read about the journeys of just a few of the refugees we've served:

Passing on the Power to Stand: Hanifa’s Story

Journeys to Refuge: Mr. Poya’s Story

Refugee Resettlement: Dhulfiqar’s Story

These stories highlight the strength, perseverance, and courage of refugee families—and why your support matters now more than ever.

This is the moment to show what community truly means—to demonstrate that even in the face of change, our compassion remains steadfast. Thank you for the many ways that you continue to provide help and create hope for our neighbors alongside Catholic Community Services of Utah.
