The Impact of a Bus Pass

The Weigand Homeless Resource Center offers a variety of resources to clients including case management, showering and laundry facilities, and several in-house partnerships to provide clients with additional resources.

Recently, a client came to the Weigand Center in search of assistance with transportation.

The client, *Isaac, has been through a lot and has encountered many difficulties while trying to get back on his feet.

Isaac met with Mary, a Client Advocate at the Weigand Center, who was able to provide him with a Utah Transit Authority buss pass. Isaac was so excited that he shouted “Thank you!” and kissed his bus pass card before leaving the Weigand Center.

The next day, Isaac returned to tell Mary how the rest of his day had gone.

After meeting with Mary, Isaac took his bus pass and immediately went in search of work. He came across a moving company with an opening and applied. Isaac was able to interview that day, was hired on the spot, and began work the next day.

Isaac’s story is one of many examples of the impact that the Weigand Homeless Resource Center has had on the lives of those impacted by homelessness in our community.

By providing highly needed services and eliminating as many barriers as possible, individuals facing homelessness are provided a pathway to self-sufficiency.
