Looking for ways to give back this month? You've come to the right place!
From offering diverse volunteer opportunities that enable individuals to make a difference, to providing avenues for donations that support our programs and clients, Catholic Community Services of Utah invites you to join us in executing our mission.
Below, you’ll find CCS’ current, most pressing needs and the ways that you can get involved.
Hunger Action Month Food Drive
Through the operation of the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank, CCS strives to ensure that those experiencing hunger in the Ogden community have access to the food they need.
One way you can join us in this mission is by participating in CCS' Hunger Action Month Food Drive in September. Donations can be made at 2504 F Ave. Ogden, UT on weekdays from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm from September 1 to 30.
High priority needs include jam, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned meat, soup, beans, macaroni and cheese, grains (cereal, pasta, rice, etc.), canned spaghetti sauce, and Hamburger Helper.
You can prepare this month by letting us know if you or your business would like to collect donations. Please contact Durrell Annis at
Join Us For Empty Bowls and Support Basic Needs Salt Lake
Every year, Catholic Community Services of Utah and FFKR Architects host Empty Bowls, an event designed to benefit St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall.
The 2024 Empty Bowls event will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 6. Join us at FFKR Architects for an evening of drinks, live music, and free food. No registration or ticket purchase is necessary. Handmade bowls will be available for purchase starting at $20. All beverage and bowl profits will benefit St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall's mission of feeding those in our community impacted by hunger.
Warm Clothing Needed at Basic Needs Salt Lake
CCS’ Basic Needs Salt Lake serves those in our community impacted by homelessness, as well as food and income insecurity.
Currently, the facility is in need of warm clothing as the fall and winter seasons approach. Gently used shoes and clothing are accepted.
Donations can be made through our Amazon Wishlist, or dropped off at 437 W 200 S, Salt Lake City, UT on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More information can be found here.
Housing Donations Needed for Refugee Clients
CCS' Refugee Resettlement team works hard to make sure that all clients settling into life in Utah have a place to call home. You can play a part by donating housing or renting to incoming refugee clients. If you're interested, please complete this form. Upon completion, someone from our housing team will be in touch should a need arise that your donation can remedy.
The Refugee Resettlement team is also in need of household items to set up homes for newly arrived refugee families. Explore our Amazon Wishlist to view current high priority needs and donate. Learn more here.
Become a Refugee Community Co-Sponsor
CCS’ Migration and Refugee Services team has a brand new volunteer opportunity to help you get your community involved in refugee resettlement—Refugee Community Co-Sponsorship.
Community co-sponsors are groups of volunteers who work alongside CCS Refugee Resettlement staff and provide direct services helping integrate newcomers to their communities. Learn more and get started here. Register to join us for an information session on September 10 here.
Become a Refugee Foster Care Parent
Through CCS, unaccompanied minors are placed in licensed and loving foster care homes where they receive the services and care they need to reach self-sufficiency.
Refugee Foster Care is currently in need of more families to open their hearts and homes to these youth. Learn more about the program and how you can become a Refugee Foster Parent here.
